ALLESTREY, a parish in the hundred of MORIESTON and LITCHURCH, county of DERBY, 2 miles (N.) from Derby, containing 361 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry of Derby, and diocese of Lichfield and Coventry, and in the patronage of J. Mundy, Esq. The church, dedicated to St. Andrew, is an ancient structure with a tower, containing several monuments of the Mundy family. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. Allestrey forms part of the duchy of Lancaster, and is within the jurisdiction of a court of pleas held at Tutbury every third Tuesday, for the recovery of debts under 40s.
