ALTERNON, a parish in the hundred of LESNEWTH,
county of CORNWALL, 7 miles (W. S. W.) from
Launceston, containing 885 inhabitants. The living is a
vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Cornwall, and diocese
of Exeter, rated in the king's books at £18. 5., and in
the patronage of the Dean and Chapter of Exeter. The
church is dedicated to St. Nunn. There is a place of
worship for Wesleyan Methodists.
