ALVASTON, a chapelry in that part of the parish of ST-MICHAEL'S, DERBY, which is in the hundred of MORLESTON-and-LITCHURCH, county of DERBY, 3 miles (S. B. by E.) from Derby, containing 399 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, annexed to that of Boulton, in the archdeaconry of Derby, and diocese of Lichfield and Coventry, endowed with £400 royal bounty. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. A Sunday school is supported chiefly from the rental of property left by sundry persons for charitable purposes. The river Derwent and the Derby canal pass through the parish.
