APPLESTHORPE, or APESTHORPE, a parish in
the North-clay division of the wapentake of BASSETLAW,
county of NOTTINGHAM, containing 103 inhabitants.
The living is a perpetual curacy, in the peculiar
jurisdiction and patronage of the Prebendary of Apesthorpe
in the Cathedral Church of York, endowed with
£200 royal bounty. The church being desecrated, the
ecclesiastical rites are performed at North Leverton.
