ASH, a parish in the hundred of AXTON-DARTFORD-AND-WILMINGTON, lathe of SUTTON at HONE, county of KENT, 3 miles (N. by W.) from Wrotham, containing 505 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Rochester, rated in the king's books at £Q. 18. 4., and in the patronage of M. Lambard, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. Peter and St. Paul. In 1735, the Rev. Samuel Attwood bequeathed a rent-charge of £22. 10., and, in 1811, James Lance gave one of £ 10.10., towards the endowment of a free school, which is now united to a school on the Madras system. Girls are educated at a separate school, supported by voluntary contribution.
