ASHLEY, a parish in the hundred of KING'S-SOMBOURN, Andover division of the county of SOUTHAMPTON, 3 miles (S. S. E.) from Stockbridge, containing 90 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Winchester, rated in the king's books at £7. 16. 3., and in the patronage of the Rev. R. C. Taunton. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. In this parish are vestiges of several Roman camps, and a circular intrenchment of considerable dimensions, supposed to be British or Danish.
