ASHLEY, a parish in the hundred of MALMESBURY,
county of WILTS, 5 miles (N. by W.) from Malmesbury,
containing 103 inhabitants. The living is a discharged
rectory, in the archdeaconry of Wilts, and diocese of
Salisbury, rated in the king's books at £9. 16. 5%., and
in the patronage of the King, as Duke of Lancaster.
The church is dedicated to St. James.
