ASKHAM, a chapelry in the parish of EAST-DRAYTON, within the liberty of SOUTHWELL-and-SCROOBY, which is locally in the South-clay division of the hundred of Bassetlaw, county of NOTTINGHAM, 2 miles (N.) from Tuxford, containing 270 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the peculiar jurisdiction of the Dean and Chapter of York, and in the patronage of the Vicar of East Drayton. Hops are cultivated here. There are almshouses for six widows.
