BACTON, a parish in the hundred of HARTISMERE,
county of SUFFOLK, 6 miles (N.) from Stow-Market,
containing 715 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in
the archdeaconry of Sudbury, and diocese of Norwich,
rated in the king's books at £19. 12. 85., and in the
patronage of the Rev. E. B. Barker. The church is
dedicated to St. Mary.
