BARDWELL, a parish in the hundred of BLACKBOURN, county of SUFFOLK, 2 miles (N. by E.) from Ixworth, containing 687 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Sudbury, and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £7. 17- 1-, and in the patronage of the President and Fellows of St. John's College, Oxford. The church is dedicated to St. Peter. There is a place of worship for Particular Baptists. The parochial school has a small endowment for the instruction of poor children: here is also an almshouse.
