BAVERSTOCK, a parish in the hundred of CAWDEN-and-CADWORTH, county of WILTS, 4 miles (W.) from Wilton, containing 135 inhabitants. The living is arectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Salisbury, rated in the king's books at £11. 10. 2., and in the patronage of the Rector and Fellows of Exeter College, Oxford. The river Nadder runs through the parish, in which there is a spring called Merrywell, the water ot which is efficacious in curing diseases of the eye. The rector supports a school for poor children.
