BELSHFORD, a parish in the northern division of
the wapentake of GARTREE, parts of LINDSEY, county
of LINCOLN, 4 miles (N. E. by N.) from Horncastle,
containing 490 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in
the archdeaconry and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the
king's books at £18. 6. 8., and in the patronage of
the Crown. The church is dedicated to St. Peter
and St. Paul. The parish abounds with excellent limestone.
