BEWERLEY, a township in that part of the parish
of RIPON which is in the lower division of the
wapentake of CLARO, West riding of the county of
YORK, ll miles (w. S. W.) from Ripon, containing
1408 inhabitants. The vicinity abounds with valuable'
lead mines, which are worked to a considerable extent.
