BEXWELL, a parish in the hundred of CLACKCLOSE, county of NORFOLK, 1 mile (E.) from Downham- Market, containing 63 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry of Norfolk, and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £7. 11. 8., and in the patronage of the Bishop of Ely. The church, dedicated to St. Mary, is built of rag-stone obtained in the vicinity. Henry III. granted to William de Bexwell permission to hold a market on Thursday, and a fair on Whit-Monday.
