BICKTON, a chapelry in the parish of ST-CHAD, within the liberty of the borough of SHREWSBURY, county of SALOP, 3 miles (N.W. by W.) from Shrewsbury. The population is returned with the parish. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry of Salop, and diocese of Lichfield and Coventry, endowed with £200 royal bounty, and £200 parliamentary grant, and in the patronage of the Rev. Thomas Stedman. The navigable river Severn runs through the chapelry, which is also intersected by the Roman Watlin g-street.
