BINHAM, a parish in the northern division of: the
hundred of GREENHOE, county of NORFOLK, 4 miles
(N.E. by E.) from Little Walsingham, containing'438
inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in
the archdeaconry and diocese of Norwich, rated in the
king's books at £6. 13. 4., endowed with £200 private
benefaction, and £800 royal bounty, and in the
patronage of T. T. Clarke, Esq. The church, dedicated
to the Holy Cross, belonged to a Benedictine priory,
founded in the reign of Henry I., the revenue of which,
at the dissolution, was £160. 1.: the western front
affords a fine specimen of the early style of English
architecture.
