BISHOP'S-FEE, a liberty in the parish of ST-MARGARET,
borough of LEICESTER, though locally in
the hundred of Gartree, county of LEICESTER. The
population is returned with Leicester. The magistrates
for the borough, and those for the county,
exercise concurrent jurisdiction throughout the liberty,
the inhabitants of which pay church and poor rates
to the parish of St. Margaret, but are assessed for the
king's taxes with the hundred of Gartree, the petty
sessions for which are occasionally held here.
