BLACKMANSTONE, a parish within the liberty of
ROMNEY-MARSH, though locally in the hundred of Worth,
lathe of SHEPWAY, county of KENT, 3 miles (N, by E.)
from New Romney, containing 8 inhabitants. The living
is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Canterbury,
rated in the king's books at £4, and in the patronage
of the Archbishop of Canterbury. The church is
desecrated, and the population has for several years been
decreasing.
