BOARHUNT, a parish in the hundred of PORTSDOWN,
Portsdown division of the county of SOUTHAMPTON,
1 mile (N. E.) from Fareham, containing
205 inhabitants. The living is a donative, in the patronage
of T. Thistlethwayte, Esq. On that part of
Portsdown which is within this parish a monument
has been erected, in memory of Admiral Lord Nelson,
which also serves as a beacon. Here was formerly a
Cistercian monastery, but there are no remains of it.
