BOWER-CHALK, a parish in the hundred of
CHALK, county of WILTS, 7 miles (S.W. by S.) from
Wilton, containing 358 inhabitants. The living is a discharged
vicarage, united to the consolidated vicarage
of Broadchalk and Alvediston, in the archdeaconry and
diocese of Salisbury, endowed with £200 private benefaction,
and £300 royal bounty. The church is dedicated
to the Holy Trinity.
