BRADWELL-ABBEY, a liberty (extra-parochial), in the hundred of NEWPORT, county of BUCKINGHAM, Similes (E.S.E.) from Stony-Stratford, containing 20 inhabitants. A priory of Black monks, dedicated to St. Mary, was founded, about the time of Stephen, by Meinfelin, Baron of Wolverton, originally as a cell to the monastery at Luffield, the revenue of which, in the 23rd of Henry VIII., was £53. 11. 2.: the site is now occupied by a farm-house.
