BRAMPTON (CHURCH), a parish in the hundred
of NOBOTTLE-GROVE, county of NORTHAMPTON,
4 miles (N. W. by N.) from Northampton, containing
179 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry
of Northampton, and diocese of Peterborough,
rated in the king's books at £25. 19. 7., and in the patronage
of Earl Spencer. The church, dedicated to St.
Botolph, is partly in the decorated, and partly in the
later, style of English architecture, and contains a large
circular font: the stairs of the rood-loft and some
ancient benches remain.
