BRANSGORE, a chapelry in the parish of CHRISTCHURCH, and hundred of CHRISTCHURCH, New Forest (West) division of the county of SOUTHAMPTON, 6 miles (N. B. by N.) from Christchurch, with which the population is returned. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Winchester, and in the patronage of the "Vicar of Christchurch. The chapel was built in 1823, at the expense of £2800, defrayed by the parliamentary commissioners: it is a neat edifice, in the later style of English architecture, with a tower and spire, and contains four hundred and sixty-two free sittings.
