BREAGE, a parish in the hundred of KERRIER, county of CORNWALL, 3 miles (W. by N.) from Helston, containing 3668 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, with the perpetual curacies of Cury, Germoe, and Gunwalloe annexed, in the archdeaconry of Cornwall, and diocese of Exeter, rated in the king's books at £33, and in the patronage of the Crown. The parish, which is contiguous to the English channel, contains a celebrated tin mine, called Wheal-Vor. There is a small endowment, arising from various benefactions, for the support of parochial schools. On Tregonin hill are vestiges of a circular encampment.
