BREAMORE, a parish and liberty in the New Forest (West) division of the county of SOUTHAMPTON, 3 miles (N.N.E.) from Fordingbridge, containing 549 inhabitants. The living is a donative, in the patronage of the Duke of Manchester. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. The river Avon is navigable.on the eastern side of this parish. A priory of Black canons, dedicated to St. Michael, was founded by Baldwin de Redverns, and his uncle Hugh, about the end of the reign ot Henry I.; at the time of its suppression, the establishment consisted of a prior and nine canons, and the revenue amounted to £200. 5. 1.
