BRIGHTWELL, a parish in the hundred of CARLFORD, county of SUFFOLK, 6 miles (E. by S.) from Ipswich, containing 73 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, with the perpetual curacy of Foxhall annexed, in the archdeaconry of Suffolk, and di cese of Norwich, endowed with £ 15 per annum private benefaction, £1000 royal bounty, and £200 parliamentary grant/ and in the patronage of Sir John G. Shaw, Bart. The church is dedicated to St. John the Baptist.
