BROADWELL, a parish in the hundred of BARTON, county of OXFORD, 5 miles (S.) from Burford, containing, with the chapelry of Holwell, and the hamlet of Filkins, 820 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, with the perpetual curacy of Kelmscott annexed, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Oxford, rated in the king's books at £8. 14. 4£., endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of E. F. Colston, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. Peter and St. Paul.
