BUCKBY (LONG), a parish in the hundred of GUILSBOROUGH, county of NORTHAMPTON, 5 miles (N. E.) from Daventry, containing, with the hamlet of Murcott, 1843 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Northampton, and diocese of Peterborough, rated in the king's books at £10, endowed with £400 private benefaction, £200 royalbounty; and £1600 parliamentary grant, and in the patronage of the Bishop of Lichfield and Coventry. The church is dedicated to St. Lawrence. There is a place of worship for Particular Baptists. Langton Freeman, in 1783, gave £400 for the endowment of a school for poor children.
