wapentake of CANDLESHOE, parts of LINDSEY, county
of LINCOLN, 3 J miles (B. by N.) from Spilsby, containing
851 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in
the archdeaconry and diocese of Lincoln; rated in the
king's books at £9-19.4., and in the patronage of the
President and Fellows of Magdalene College, Oxford.
The church is dedicated to St. Benedict.
