CARLATTON, a liberty (extra-parochial), in ESKDALE ward, county of CUMBERLAND, 9 miles (E. S. E.) from Carlisle, containing 54 inhabitants. This district comprises one thousand six hundred acres. Several coins, supposed to be Roman, havebeen discovered in ploughing a field forming part of the Low Hall estate; and at a farm called Saugh-tree-gate there is a cairn.
