CARLETON, a township in that part of the parish
of ST-CUTHBERT-CARLISLE, which is in CUMBERLAND
ward, county of CUMBERLAND, 2 miles (S. E.) from
Carlisle, containing 201 inhabitants. At Newlands, in
this township, is a quarry of excellent blue freestone, in
appearance like marble.
