CARLTON, a parish in the hundred of HOXNE,
locally in that of Plomesgate, county of SUFFOLK, £ of
a toile (N. by W.) from'Saxmundham, containing 126
inhabitants. The living is a rectory, consolidated, in
1679, with the rectory of Kelsale, in the archdeaconry
of Suffolk, and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's
books at. £3. 11. Of., and in the patronage of the Rev.
B. Bence. The church is dedicated to St. Peter.
