CHAMBOIS, a township in the parish of BEDLINGTON, eastern division of CHESTER ward, county palatine of DURHAM, but situated on the. eastern side of the county of Northumberland, 7 miles (B. by S.) from Morpeth. The population is returned with' the parish. The village is situated on the coast, at the mouth of the river Wansbeck; there is a small harbour, where corn, timber, and grindstones are shipped; some spacious, granaries were built during the late war with France, at which period a great quantity of grain was sent from this place.
