CHARLTON, a parish in the hundred of MALMESBURY,
county of WILTS, 2J miles (N. E. by E.) from
Malmesbury, containing 563 inhabitants. The living is
a perpetual curacy, annexed to the vicarage of Westport
St. Mary, in the archdeaconry of Wilts, and diocese of
Salisbury. The church is dedicated to St. John the
Baptist.
