CHARNES, a township (formerly a chapelry) in the
parish of ECCLESHALL, northern division of the hundred
of PIREHILL, county of STAFFORD, 5 miles (N. W.
by W.) from Eccleshall, containing 91 inhabitants. The
chapel has been destroyed.
