CHARWELTON, a parish in the hundred of FAWSLEY, county of NORTHAMPTON, 6 miles (S.W. by S.) from Daventry, containing 232 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Northampton, and diocese of Peterborough, rated in the king's books at £20. 2. 11., and in the patronage of Sir Charles Knightley, Bart. The church, dedicated to the Holy Trinity, has a curious octagonal font supported on a square pedestal, and richly ornamented in a peculiar style.
