CHELSFIELD, a parish in the hundred of RUXLEY, lathe of SUTTON at HONE, county of KENT, 6J miles (S. E.) from Bromley, containing 756 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Rochester, rated in the king's books at £ 24. 14. 2., and in the patronage of the Warden and Fellows of All Souls' College, Oxford. The church, dedicated to St. Mary, is in the early style of English architecture, with a tower and spire at the north-east angle of the nave. At Farnborough, in this parish, there is a chapel of ease. There is a small endowment for the instruction of children.
