CHURTON-HEATH, or BRUERA, a chapelry in that part of the parish of ALDFORD which is in the lower division of the hundred of BROXTON, county palatine of CHESTER, 5 miles (S. E. by S.) from Chester, containing 8 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, annexed to the vicarage of St. Oswald, city of Chester, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Chester. The chapel, dedicated to St. Mary, is a very ancient structure, with a Norman arch between the nave and the chancel, and a rich Norman door at the south end; various carved stones are conspicuous in the walls.
