CLAXBY, a parish in the northern division of the
wapentake of WALSHCROFT, parts of LINDSEY, county
of LINCOLN, 4 miles (N.) from Market-Rasen, containing
184 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory,
to which the rectory of Normanby on the Wolds was
united in 1740, in the archdeaconry, and diocese of .Lincoln,
rated in the king's books at £8. 10. 10., and in
the patronage of R. Atkinson, Esq. The church is dedicated
to St. Mary.
