COCKFIELD, a parish in the hundred of BABERGH,
county of SUFFOLK, 4 miles (N. by W.) from Lavenham,
containing 897 inhabitants. The living is a rectory,
in the archdeaconry of Sudbury, and diocese of
Norwich, rated in. the king's books at £30, and in the
patronage of the Master and Fellows of St. John's
College, Cambridge. The church, dedicated to St. Peter,
has a large and handsome tower.
