COLAN, a parish in the hundred of PYDER, county of CORNWALL, 3 miles (S. W. by W.) from St. Columb- Major, containing 259 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Cornwall, anddiocese of Exeter, rated in the king's books at £6.13.4., and in the patronage of the Bishop of Exeter. The church is dedicated to St. Golan. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. Here is a charity school. In this parish is a celebrated spring, called Our Lady of Nantz' well.
