COLWICK, a parish in the southern division of the wapentake of THORGARTON, county of NOTTINGHAM, 2 miles (E.) from Nottingham, containing 120 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Nottingham, and diocese of York, rated in the king's books at £6.1. 0., and in the patronage of J. Musters, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. John the Baptist. A school was founded by the Rev. William Thompson, late rector, with an endowment of £20 per annum. The navigable river Trent flows through this parish.
