CORSE, a parish in the lower division of the hundred of WESTMINSTER, county of GLOUCESTER, 5 miles (E, by N.) from Newent, containing 446 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage; in the archdeaconry and diocese of Gloucester, rated in the king's books at £6. 2. 9., and in the patronage of the Crown. The church is dedicated to St. Margaret. This parish is beautifully situated, and has recently been improved by the enclosure of upwards of one thousand three hundred acres of land, which anciently abounded with wood, and was called " Corse Lawn."
