COTTESFORD, a parish in the hundred of PLOUGHLEY,
county of OXFORD, 6 miles (N.) from Bicester,
containing 140 inhabitants. The living is a discharged
rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Oxford,
rated in the king's books at £6. 13. 4., endowed with
£200 private benefaction, and £200 royal bounty, and
in the patronage of the Provost and Fellows of Eton
College. The church-is dedicated to St. Mary.
