CREAKE (SOUTH), a parish in the hundred of BROTHERCROSS, county of NORFOLK, 4 miles (S. S. B.) from Burnham-Westgate, containing 728 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Norfolk, and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £22, and in the patronage o&H. Goggs, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. There is a place of worship for Particular Baptists. In the neighbourhood is a Saxon fortification, the way leading from which is called Blood-gate, from the dreadful slaughter made there in a battle between the Saxons and the Danes.
