CROUGHTON, a parish in the hundred of KING'S-SUTTON,
county of NORTHAMPTON, 3 miles (S. W.)
from Brackley, containing 376 inhabitants. The living
is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Northamptoa, and
diocese of Peterborough, rated in the king's books at
s£15. 3. 6., and in the patronage of Viscount Ashbrook.
The church is dedicated to All Saints. Dr. John Friend,
the learned author of a " History of Physick," was born
here, in 1675.
