CROXDALE, a chapelry in that part of the parish of ST-OSWALD-DURHAM, which is in the southern division of EASINGTON ward, county palatine of DURHAM, 3 miles (S. by W.) from Durham. The population is returned with the parish. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Durham, endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £200 royal bounty. The chapel is dedicated to the Holy Cross. There is a private Roman Catholic chapel at the hall.
