CRUNDALE, a parish in the hundred of WYE, lathe of SCRAY, county of KENT, 8 miles (S.W, by S.) from Canterbury, containing 250 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Canterbury, rated in the king's books at £11. 10. 10., and in the patronage of Sir J. Filmer, Bart. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. The Rev. Richard Forster, in 1728, bequeathed a house and land, now producing" £5. 16. per annum, which is applied to teaching eight children. At Crundale Green considerable remains of a Roman sepulchre were discovered in 1703, in which were several skeletons, urns, and other vessels, both of earthenware and glass, with some coins, trinkets for females, &c., supposed to have existed so early as the second century.
