CUBBINGTON, a parish in the Kenilworth division of the hundred of KNIGHTLOW, county of WARWICK, 5 miles (N. E. by E.) from Warwick, containing 614 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Coventry, and diocese of Lichfield and Coventry, rated in the king's books at £6. 6. 8., endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £ 200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of Chandos Leigh, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. A National school was established in 1821, and a bequest by John Glover, in 1762, of £250, for educating poor children, and one by Hannah Murcott, in 1775, of £100, for the establishment of a charity school, are applied towards its support; all the poor children of the parish may receive free instruction.
