DENTON, a parish in the soke of GRANTHAM, parts of KESTEVEN, county of LINCOLN, 4 miles (S.W. by W.) from Grantham, containing 577 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the Icing's books at £18. 8. 4., and in the patronage of the Prebendary of North Grantham in the Cathedral Church of Salisbury. The church is dedicated to St. Andrew. About 1727> a mosaic pavement, and several large pieces of Roman bricks, composing part of some ancient foundations, were discovered in Denton fields.
